Step #5: Rinse the affected carpet area with clean water. Use a damp cloth to rinse any soapy residue from the cleaning solution.

Step #6: Finally, dry any remaining liquid in the carpet. Dab the area with a paper towel or a clean, lint-free cloth. After the carpet is completely dry, vacuum up any remaining soot.
